Digital certificates have been around a few years now, however it is only recently that the need for the digital certificate has become more and more frequent.

Required by many websites to make online payments, pay taxes, pay fines, access personal documents and for many other things such as online payments to the Town hall, requests to Town halls for licences, to pay fines/outstanding taxes, to view bills, to obtain your padron certificate and so, so much more.

Digital Certificates: What's the fuss all about?

For personal use it is convenient to point out many advantages such as online:

Medical assistance: access to your medications, when they run out and when to pick them up from the pharmacy, upcoming or past doctors’ appointments, doctors notes and more (ClicSalud website for Andalucian residents https://www.sspa.juntadeandalucia.es/servicioandaluzdesalud/clicsalud/pages/portada.jsf)

DGT (Tráfico). Also useful for the DGT website to access paying fines, information on your vehicle, change of ownership, points on your licence and more.

Tax Agency. To access all documents tax related such as tax returns, NIE applications, fiscal tax resident certificates, check embargoes, letters, or notifications from tax agency before receiving a letter etc. For self-employed’s or those with businesses you can also access your CIF, quarterly tax returns and so much more.

Social security. You can see what health coverage you have, access to Spanish pensions, your work history, your social security number, and all documents associated to the Spanish Social Security. For self employed and businesses, it will grant you access to your payments to Social Security, such as your monthly self-employed fees and access to your payments related to any employees you may have registered.
