My name is Lucy, born in the UK, I have now lived in Spain longer than I ever did (or will do) in the UK.
Not speaking the language upon arrival was lot easier as a small child than it ever was or will be for a full-grown adult.
I have learned cultures and languages, lived in various regions of Spain and immersed myself completely in the beauracratic system since arriving.
Having had various fights at the Social Security office in our town, trying to obtain our Social Secuirty numbers, I decided to take matters in to my own hands being a minor, went without my parents and got Social Security numbers for the whole family- and the sense of acheivement was extraordinary.
Since then, I proceeded to study administrative management and learn the in's and out's of the Spanish system(s).
Being more the hands-on type of person that I am, I have always preferred experience to theory and landed a job as an administrative assistant and traffic coordinator at Ibiza Airport for three seasons.
Following on from there, my experience in the sector continued to grow and I found myself working in a solicitor's office in Alicante.
Whilst trialling medications and being locked down with doctor's appointments, I decided that with the knowledge acquired I could now become legally self-employed, work from home and concentrate on a professional career while trying to manage my disease. I will always be learning along the way thanks to my clients and cannot thank you enough for your continued support, to each and all.
Working there I learned more than I had in any course, any other job experience or any other life-experience things be said. However I had to leave my job, my flat and my entire life, after six years with intestinal problems, written off as IBS until I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease which eventually led to a couple of hospital stays and ultimately, sending me back home to Baza, Granada for the unconditional support of my family.
